The Office of Community Relations at George Mason University, in partnership with the National Energy Education Development project (NEED), has prepared an innovative, interactive environmental education program for elementary school children grades K-3, who participate in the School Age Child Care (SACC) program in Fairfax County, VA.
Go Green with Gunston provides a solid yet entertaining science education curriculum that promotes the benefits of "going green," with a focus on renewable energy sources. Gunston, George Mason University's lovable, furry, green community ambassador, along with his friend Mason, a non-costumed actor/educator, visits students engaging them in songs, stories, and games about going green.
The program consists of two pre-visit lessons, a SACC Center visit and lesson by Gunston and Mason, and follow-up website activities.
